Welcome to Widgetmonkey.

UPDATE: I have had to remove several features from the site.
The contact form had to go - I was getting far more mail than I could cope with. My apologies to anyone who submitted questions / queries / advice.
The newsletter is also removed. I just haven't got the time. Sorry. All your emails will be removed.
I have also had to delete the email address rob@widgetmonkey. It was getting so much spam, it just wasn't worth it anymore. Again, apologies.

What is this site about?

Short answer: it's about simple, free web applications for people to use.

Widgetmonkey is a site where you can demo and download php/mysql scripts and programs. It's free, as most opensource things are. At the moment there are three scripts - I have no plans to do anymore, or any updates, as I don't have the time. Sorry. I thought I would, but I don't.

What are the scripts?

One is a quiz that can be administered online, so the site owner doesn't have to bother the developer to make changes. There is an addressbook for personal or intranet sites. And the most recent script is an invoice system for freelancers or small businesses. All applications have examples/demos, downloads, and installation instructions, plus the quiz has a detailed tutorial.

What's the deal?

If you want to use these scripts on your site, be it a commercial or non-commercial site, feel free.

Why widgetmonkey?

I bought the domain name because I liked it.

Why php?

If you have to ask, this site is not for you (quite yet). Find out why php is such a good programming language for the web at these sites:
»PHP.net Go to the source
»PHPbuilder Gets technical, but very good
»PHPwizard Authors of the brilliant phpAds and phpMyAdmin.
»FAQTs An excellent source of help
»Webmonkey (similar name, yes, but this is a Lycos-owned site)
»Web review
»Melonfire This site has many excellent php tutorials. They are superbly written and often amusing too. Genius.
»weblogs - phpeverywhere Article comparing php to asp
»A more technical article from weblogs
»WSabstract / javascriptkit php vs cgi.
